We watched all of Tales of the Jedi last night, which I’ve been looking forward to for months. It’s probably what I’ve been most looking forward to in general, at least until the next season of The Bad Batch starts. And, boy, was it worth the wait.

Back when I found out what the focus of the episodes was going to be I wasn’t looking forward to the Dooku arc, but I was hopeful. I’ve never been able to enjoy him as a character and I was really hoping that doing a bit of filling in on his backstory—as hard-canon instead of the various EU books that keep dropping in and out—would do something that worked for me. It absolutely did, especially his third episode. I love that Yaddle was important. I always say, about the things coming out in TCW continuity “I know it’s going to hurt me, just hurt me the right way,” and it pretty consistently does.

I knew I wasn’t going to have a problem with the Ahsoka episodes, even though none of them were really ‘necessary.’ I loved seeing more of togruta society, and more time with Snips and Skyguy. (A spiteful part of me that ruffled at people saying after the trailers ‘Oh, I hope the whole point is that she doesn’t do what Anakin says, and that’s why she’s strong!’ didn’t get that from the plot. Sorry, folks, he actually was a good teacher for her despite his incredibly destructive flaws. That’s sort of the point.) The moment after she gets stunned for the first time was lighthearted and fun, and then the full significance of it hit me later and knocked the wind out of me a little. And it was nice to see how much the third episode drew from the Ahsoka novel, even if it isn’t fully canon anymore. Plus the Inquisitor design was the best one yet, and I love it whenever Clancy Brown shows up somewhere. XD I just loved this series, start to finish.

And then my partner gave me a great compliment, that the Snips and Skyguy episode felt like something I’d write. Like a little moment that the Disaster Trio would have, just to give some extra feelings. I think it’s one of the nicest compliments I’ve ever gotten. ^~^

I went a little crazy this month; I set out hoping to do four of the prompts for the Jedi June appreciation month, which felt pretty ambitious to begin with. But then—with two of them being older art I had—I ended up hitting all eight instead. ^-^; I don’t think I’ve ever written so much Gen fic so close together. XD

For Compassion:
I added some more commentary on Not This Time, an Ahsoka/Vader piece I did a while ago.

For Lightsaber:
A repost of a piece I did of Anakin’s lightsaber while under the influence of Placebo’s “Every You Every Me.” XD

For Teaching/Learning:
In This, Together
Clone Wars, fluff, Force bond; Obi-wan & Ahsoka, Obi-wan & Anakin. 1,018 words, complete.
Ahsoka feels under the weather after officially becoming Anakin’s padawan, and Obi-Wan helps her to get back on her feet.

For The Force:
The Song
Post Phantom Menace, fluff; Obi-wan & Anakin. 580 words, complete.
Obi-Wan stops at Illum for a new kyber crystal on the way back to Coruscant after the events of The Phantom Menace, and gets a surprise from his new padawan.

For Restraint/Discipline:
Stillness
Clone Wars, light angst; Obi-wan & Anakin, Obi-wan & Qui-gon. 530 words, complete.
A moment set during the episode Blue Shadow Virus; Obi-Wan remembers the last time he was in Theed’s power generator.

For Meditation/Mindfulness:
Moving
Prequel movies, light angst and fluff; Obi-wan & Anakin.
Obi-Wan’s new padawan is having difficulty learning to meditate but, together, they find a way to make it work.

For Symbiosis/Connection:
The Sheltering Storm
Clone Wars, hurt/comfort, force bond, shippy gen; Anakin & Ahsoka. 1,097 words, complete.
A thunderstorm allows Anakin and Ahsoka to learn a little more about each other, and deepen their bond.

For Letting Go:
Breaking the Chain
Clone Wars, canon divergence, angst with a happy ending; Anakin & Ahsoka, Qui-go. 633 words, complete.
In a different world, Ahsoka listens to the ominous feelings that she has before the Siege of Mandalore. Set during Old Friends Not Forgotten.

More than once I found myself unintentionally combining themes. Sometimes that was because a fic started out as one and then, as it developed, I realized it actually fit a bit better for another. Sometimes the blend just came naturally. The second to last fic I posted was actually the first I finished. XD But it was an idea I’d already been playing with for a while.

I had a lot of fun, though I don’t know if I’d try to go this hard again. (Though, in fairness, I didn’t originally intend to this time either.) I’m going to try and take it easier in July to rest up a bit. XD

First round-up of the new year, and I’m happy to say I’m keeping up with my goals so far! :D A small fix-it that ambushed me after Rise of Skywalker and a fluffy prompt-fill.

Raise You
Rise of Skywalker; Fix-it, Force Ghosts, fluff. Anakin & Kylo/Ben; 657 words, complete.
Kylo finds himself at a crossroads after being healed by Rey, and gets some support from his grandfather.

A Little Help
Modern AU; Tumblr prompt, 5+1 Things, fluff. Obi-wan/Anakin, Ahsoka, & Padme; 3,953 words, complete.
Five times Ahsoka thought Ben and Anakin were a couple, and one time she was right. A fill for the prompt, “Everybody knows/Mistaken for a couple.”

I’ve been noticing a recent uptick in traffic to my Anisoka stuff, which makes me so happy! I really wish the pairing got more love in general. With the new season right around the corner the majority of the ideas I’ve been getting have been for them. Apparently, my writer-brain’s response to the Big Pain that’s coming is all the fun, lazy make-outs. XD
