Tea Review—Clone Wars Edition
Apr. 27th, 2019 11:50 pmA friend first turned me on to Adagio teas a while ago through their Fandom Blends and I realized recently that I’d never poked around for any Star Wars-themed blends. I found some that seemed tasty, and it had been a while since I’d picked up some new tea, so gave them a try (along with a seasonal mug-and-infuser, because I love sakura designs). All in I was happy with everything!
Skyguy is ridiculously fragrant, and all the spice combines to make it smell like a literal campfire. And, amazingly, it tastes pretty much exactly like it smells; I think it might be my favorite of the bunch. It’s very caffeinated for a good boost. (I kind of love that everyone who made an Anakin blend went high on caffeine. XD) I feel like it would be an amazing tea to have in winter, to help get warm and cozy.
Snips had a couple different flavor layers, with the strongest being cream/vanilla; that’s the primary scent it gives off too. Under that was a really nice fruity flavor, and then an even more subtle bit of spice. I suspect the fruitiness will vary cup-to-cup, though, depending on how much cranberry gets into your mix. Either way, it’s a much stronger part of the flavor when the temperature of the tea is cooler—this one would probably make a great iced tea.
Negotiator has a strong earl grey base, though I thought it tasted much creamier than a regular earl grey, and the ginger adds a really nice warmth to it. The orange flavor definitely varies cup-to-cup; the first time I brewed it, it was very orange-y, but the second not nearly so much. And like Snips, the fruit flavor gets stronger when it’s cooler. I don’t normally put milk in my teas but tried it with this one on a reviewer’s recommendation; it almost made it taste more like a really light coffee that way. It isn’t billed as a wellness tea, but I bet it would really help settle your stomach if you were feeling under the weather.
I was also really happy with the sakura cup. The strainer it came with is one of the easier ones to clean that I’ve used, which is always a big plus. It doesn’t have a handle but is double-walled for insulation, though I wouldn’t rely on that for long distances. I could get from my kitchen to another room okay while holding it, but it still got hotter than I’d prefer to be handling on the outside before too long. (Not a problem for me when drinking, since I generally need to let my tea cool a bit before I do.) It does do a really good job of keeping the liquid inside warm for long periods, though.
